Honourable Patterk Netser
Minister of Economic Development & Transportation
Patterk Netser was born in Coral Harbour, situated on the north coast of Hudson Bay. First elected to the Nunavut Legislature in a by-election in 2003 for the riding of Nanulik, he was reelected by his constituents in the February 2004 Nunavut general election.
Before entering into public life, Patterk worked for the Northern Canada Power Commission and as a private entrepreneur in the community of Coral Harbour. His previous elected positions include Chairperson of the Coral Harbour District Education Authority and membership on the Keewatin Divisional Board of Education.
Patterk has served as the Deputy Speaker of the Nunavut Legislative Assembly and was also a member of the Ajauqtiit Standing Committee on Health and Education.
On March 8 th, 2006 Patterk was elected by his legislative colleagues to sit on the executive Council of Nunavut. On March 15 th, 2006 he was appointed by Premier Paul Okalik to the position Minister of Environment and Minister responsible for Workers Compensation Board, portfolios he held until December 12, 2007, when he became Minister of Economic Development & Transportation and Minister responsible for the Nunavut Housing Corporation.
When Patterk is not in his office he enjoys making traditional tools, hunting and fishing.
Patterk and his wife Mona have six children and live in Coral Harbour.
